23 September 2024 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a massive gathering of over 13,000 Indian Americans in New York, laid out his ambitious vision for India’s future during his third term. Speaking at the Nassau Veterans Coliseum, PM Modi emphasized his commitment to making India a developed nation, stating that the country is now a “land of opportunities” and no longer waiting for them, but actively creating them.
Modi highlighted the historic mandate he received from the people of India, marking the first time in 60 years that such a significant majority had been given to a leader for a third term. He attributed this support to the decade of developmental achievements under his leadership and assured the audience that he would work with “three times the strength” to propel India forward.
The prime minister also praised Indian Americans for their pivotal role in strengthening Indo-US ties, calling them “India’s brand ambassadors” and recognizing their contributions to the social and economic fabric of both nations. He touched upon India’s aspiration to become the third-largest economy in the world, adding that the country has lifted 250 million people out of poverty in the last decade, thanks to a renewed focus on empowering the poor.
Cultural performances by over 380 artists, including Grammy nominee Chandrika Tandon and STAR Voice of India winner Aishwarya Majumdar, highlighted the event, celebrating India’s diverse heritage and leaving the crowd in high spirits.
