Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a three-day visit to the United States early Saturday morning. During the trip, Modi will participate in the 6th Quad Leaders’ Summit, attend discussions at the United Nations, and engage in high-level bilateral meetings with global leaders.
Key Highlights of the Visit Modi’s visit will begin with the Quad Leaders’ Summit, hosted in U.S. President Joe Biden’s hometown of Wilmington, Delaware. Leaders from India, the U.S., Australia, and Japan will review progress made by the Quad group over the past year and set a new agenda for supporting Indo-Pacific development goals.
Modi is also set to hold bilateral meetings with President Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japan’s Premier Fumio Kishida.
Focus Areas Key topics at the Quad Summit include addressing global challenges such as the Russia-Ukraine conflict, escalating tensions in West Asia, and the security situation in the Indo-Pacific. Additionally, the Summit will launch the Cancer Moonshot initiative, aiming to improve cancer prevention, detection, and treatment in the Indo-Pacific.
Modi will also meet U.S.-based CEOs and interact with the Indian diaspora in New York to discuss collaborations in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, semiconductors, and biotechnology.
The visit will conclude with Modi addressing the ‘Summit of the Future’ at the United Nations General Assembly, focusing on the theme ‘Multilateral Solutions for a Better Tomorrow’.
India-US Partnership In his bilateral meeting with President Biden, Modi is expected to strengthen the strategic partnership between India and the U.S., with new agreements on India’s involvement in the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework and a memorandum on drug collaboration.
The visit is set to bolster India’s role in global diplomacy, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region.
