In a swift and heartfelt response, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep concern over the recent assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump. The attempt took place on Sunday while Trump was addressing a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. PM Modi, known for his strong rapport with Trump, condemned the act of violence and emphasized that it has no place in politics and democracies.
“Deeply concerned by the attack on my friend, former President Donald Trump. Strongly condemn the incident. Violence has no place in politics and democracies. Wish him a speedy recovery,” PM Modi wrote on X.
PM Modi also extended his solidarity to the American people, saying, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased, those injured, and the American people.”
The incident occurred when a shooter fired several bullets targeting Trump during his rally. One spectator was killed, and two others were injured in the shooting. The United States Secret Service agents responded promptly, shooting the attacker dead. The authorities are still working to determine the identity and motivation of the shooter.
As the first shots rang out, Trump clutched his ear, and agents swiftly shielded him and escorted him to safety. Despite a bloodied face from an ear injury, Trump demonstrated resilience by pumping his fist in the air and mouthing the word “fight” before being whisked away to a waiting SUV.
US authorities have confirmed that Trump’s injury is not serious. Trump later provided an account of the event on his social networking platform, Truth Social.
“I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear,” Trump wrote. “I knew immediately that something was wrong as I heard a whizzing sound and shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our country.”
Donald Trump, currently the frontrunner in the presidential race, continues to garner significant attention as the campaign progresses.
