PM Narendra Modi is all set to celebrate the festival of lights with soldiers on the border

After days of busy schedule ahead of Diwali, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to celebrate the festival of lights with soldiers on the border like every year. This comes a day after he was in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, where he offered prayers to Ram Lalla (infant Ram) at the Ram Janmabhoomi complex. He also reviewed the progress of the ongoing construction of the Ram temple. The temple town of Ayodhya also created a new world record in the presence of PM Modi as 15 lakh diyas were lit on the banks of river Saryu.

He also visited Uttarakhand and his home state of Gujarat in recent days.

The prime minister, meanwhile, has been celebrating Diwali with troops every year since 2014, when he designated the festival for security forces in Siachen. “From the icy heights of the Siachen Glacier and with the brave Jawans and officers of the Armed Forces, I wish you all a Happy Diwali,” he tweeted at the time.

The next year, he visited three memorials in Punjab to honor the achievements of the Indian Army in the 1965 war. It was on the 50th anniversary of the 1965 war and the Prime Minister said he “decided to visit the places where the brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces shed their blood and they made the ultimate sacrifice during this war”. The battles of Dograi and Barki were the key successes of the 1965 war.

In 2016, he went to Himachal Pradesh to meet soldiers near the Chinese border. He was in contact with Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) men, Dogra Scouts and the army in Sumdoh; and made an unscheduled stop in the village of Chango, where he said he was “deeply touched by the impromptu reception and their joy”. In 2017, he went to North Kashmir’s Gurez sector and claimed that “spending time with our forces gives me new energy”.

The next year, Prime Minister Modi spent Diwali in Uttarakhand’s Harsil, where he paid a surprise visit to the troops. This was followed by a visit to the iconic Kedarnath Dham. This year, he already visited a very revered place among Hindus.

Spending time with our forces gives me new energy. We exchanged sweets and communicated. I am glad that Jawans practice yoga regularly.

Dear Prime Minister @netanyahu, as promised yesterday, here are some glimpses of how I celebrated Diwali.

I went to the beautiful state of Uttarakhand, where I paid a surprise visit to our brave troops in Harsil, followed by prayers at Kedarnath, one of the holiest places in India.

While in 2019 he met the personnel in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri, in 2020 he was at the Longewala border crossing. Diwali is complete, he said in a statement, only when he is with the soldiers, whether in the snow-capped mountains or in the desert.

Celebrate #Diwali with brave soldiers of Indian Army in Rajouri, Jammu & Kashmir.

It is always a great pleasure to interact with this courageous staff.

Every year I love spending Diwali with our security forces. It is a way of reaffirming our solidarity with them as they bravely protect the nation and ensure that our country can reach new heights of progress.

Here are some views from Longewala today.

I feel honored to have spent Diwali with our brave soldiers at Nowshera, not as Prime Minister but as a member of their family.

He celebrated the festival of lights in Jammu and Kashmir’s Nowshera last year. “Feel honored to spend Diwali with our brave soldiers at Nowshera, not as Prime Minister but as a member of their family,” he tweeted at the time along with several photos of the interaction.
