Today signed MOU between India and Sweden to operate the next generation of sustainable aviation technology & solutions

Airports Authority of India (AAI) and LFV Air Navigation Services of Sweden (LUFTFARTSVERKET) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding at AAI’s corporate headquarters in New Delhi. The agreement brings together two air navigation service providers, India and Sweden, with proven capabilities to build and operate the next generation of sustainable aviation technology, to explore intelligent aviation solutions. This MoU will pave the way for bilateral exchange of aviation expertise and technology between the two countries. This will enable Indian companies to accelerate growth while leveraging Swedish innovation and expertise. Under the auspices of a memorandum of understanding, companies can work together in areas of mutual interest.

The MoU was signed by Mr. M. Suresh, Member (Air Navigation Services), AAI and Mr. Magnus Corell, Deputy Director General, LFV Sweden. The event was attended by Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Chairman, AAI; Ms. Malin Cederfeldt Östberg, State Secretary, Ministry of Infrastructure, Government of Sweden, H.E. Klas Molin, Ambassador of Sweden to India and H.E. Tanmaya Lal, Ambassador of India to Sweden. The event was attended by senior officials from AAI, LFV, Embassy of Sweden, New Delhi and Business Sweden – The Swedish Trade & Invest Council. Recognizing the urgent need for rapid development of next-generation smart airports and the need to build sustainable transportation systems, both sides agreed to the following elements of the MoU:

• Aeronautical Knowledge Exchange and Technical Transfer Program

• To promote close and friendly relations between the two agencies

• Focus on expanding technical cooperation at airports

• Promote the development of a safe, secure, sustainable and efficient aviation industry

• Positive contributions to the promotion of bilateral and international trade

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Chairman, Airports Authority of India, congratulated the Government of India and the Government of Sweden for taking this initiative of a joint effort to strengthen India’s efforts to develop efficient, safe, secure and sustainable aviation. sector. He expressed his belief that the mutual exchange in civil aviation between AAI and LFV Sweden will go a long way in building and operating the next generation of intelligent and sustainable aviation technology.

Mr. Klas Molin, Ambassador of Sweden to India, spoke about the long-term cooperation between India and Sweden. “We look forward to this addition to the already extensive collaboration between India and Sweden, which already includes sustainability, health, innovation, energy and will now extend to civil aviation. I look forward to how the MoU can provide more opportunities for Sweden and India to explore climate-smart solutions in the aviation sector.”

Shri Tanmaya Lal, Ambassador of India to Sweden, while delivering his speech mentioned that “India-Sweden partnership is on the rise. This MoU covers another new area and will facilitate technological collaboration to improve safety, sustainability and efficiency in the aviation industry. This is an important development also in the context of flourishing regional air connectivity in India.

Areas of cooperation and action plan : AAI and LFV, both government agencies of India and Sweden, will work together in the following areas of cooperation:

1. Air traffic control

2. Air traffic control

3. Remote airport management and traffic control

4. Airspace design and planning

5. Design and infrastructure of airports

6. Digitized airports and aviation

7. Ability and Training

8. Sustainable airports and aviation

9. Processes for Pilots

10. Processes for Scaling

A joint working group will be established to prioritize areas of interest and promote cooperation between the two countries. This MoU will play a key role in deepening India-Sweden intergovernmental relations in the aviation sector in addition to other existing engagements such as sustainability, healthcare, innovation, energy and infrastructure etc.
