Vadhvan Port Project Inauguration
In the afternoon, around 1:30 PM, PM Modi will travel to Palghar to lay the foundation stone for the Vadhvan Port project, a monumental initiative worth ₹76,000 crore. The port, located near Dahanu in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, is poised to become one of India’s largest deepwater ports.
It will enhance maritime connectivity, reduce transit times and costs, and bolster India’s position as a global trade hub. The project is expected to generate significant employment opportunities and stimulate local economic growth, while adhering to sustainable development practices and stringent ecological standards.
Inauguration of Fisheries Projects
At the CIDCO ground in Palghar, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate 218 fisheries projects worth around ₹1,560 crores. These initiatives aim to strengthen the fisheries sector’s infrastructure and productivity across India. The projects include the development and modernization of fishing harbours, fish landing centres, and fish markets, alongside the introduction of advanced technologies like the Recirculatory Aquaculture System and Biofloc. These efforts are anticipated to generate over five lakh employment opportunities in the fisheries sector.
Launch of Vessel Communication and Support System
PM Modi will also launch the National Rollout of the Vessel Communication and Support system, a project costing approximately ₹360 crores. Developed by ISRO, this indigenous technology will install 1 lakh transponders on mechanized and motorized fishing vessels across 13 coastal states and union territories. The system will enable two-way communication for fishermen at sea, assist in rescue operations, and enhance overall safety.
Ahead of his visit, PM Modi expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “The Global Fintech Fest platform showcases India’s strides in the world of Fintech and brings together key stakeholders of the sector. Thereafter, I will be in Palghar for the foundation stone laying programme of the Vadhvan Port project. This is a very important project, signifying our commitment to port-led development and to the progress of Maharashtra.”
