Modi launched the Rozgar Mela, a recruitment drive for 10 million employees

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched the Rozgar Mela, a recruitment drive for 10 million employees. In a significant step forward to provide job opportunities to the youth, 75,000 employees will be given appointment letters on the occasion, according to the report. Addressing the event, PM Modi said that India has become the 5th largest economy in the world due to the reforms made in the last 8 years. He claimed that the efficiency of government offices had increased due to the efforts of “our Karmayogis”.

“It is true that many of the world’s major economies are struggling with inflation, unemployment… the side effects of the biggest crisis in 100 years cannot just disappear in 100 days,” he added. As part of the Rozgar Mela, fifty Union Ministers will hand over nomination papers to nearly 20,000 people at various locations across the country. While Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will present appointment letters in Jaipur, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia will be in Bhopal and Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur will be in Chandigarh, PTI reported.

The new recruits selected from across the country will join 38 ministries and departments of the central government. The appointees will join the government at the levels of Group – A, Group – B (Gazetted), Group – B (Non-Gazetted) and Group – C. The posts to which the new recruits will be appointed include Central Armed Forces Staff, Sub-Inspector, Constable, LDC, Steno, PA, Income Tax Inspectors, MTS. “These recruitments are carried out by ministries and departments either themselves or through recruitment agencies like UPSC, SSC, Railway Recruitment Board,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.

On the occasion of Dhanteras, PM Modi will also attend the ‘Griha Pravesh’ event of over 4.5 million PMAY-G beneficiaries in Madhya Pradesh. Under PMAY-G, a 100% grant of ₹1.20 lakh is provided to each beneficiary with a sharing ratio of 60:40 between the Center and the state. Around 29 million houses have been completed in Madhya Pradesh at a cost of over ₹ 35,000 crores under the scheme.
