The defense forces have added 101 new items to the list whose imports will be banned, PM Modi said

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the Defense Expo 2022 in Gandhinagar, laid the foundation stone of the new airbase at Deesa and said the new airbase would prove to be an effective hub for the country’s security. Gujarat will become a defense hub in India and will play a vital role in India’s security. “I saw on the screen that the people of Deesa were excited about the construction of the new airport. This airport will play a major role. Deesa is only 130 km away from the international border. If our forces, especially our air force, stay in Deeso, then we will be able to respond better on any threat coming from the western side,” PM Modi said addressing Dees’ “brothers and sisters” in Gujarati.

“When I was the Chief Minister, I was working on the construction of the airport. The land was allotted only in 2000. I repeatedly urged the then central government to start the construction as it is with a vision. But 14 years went on and nothing happened,” PM Modi said. “And the files were created in such a way that even after I got to the center, it took a long time to finally push the project. And now the dream of my defense personnel is becoming a reality. I congratulate my Air Force soldiers. This will now play an important role in country’s security,” said Prime Minister Modi.

India was identified as the world’s largest importer

On the Defense Space Mission, a new mission to be launched, PM Modi said that all the three defense forces have identified several threats in the sector. And the benefits of India’s mission defense space will not be limited to India but will reach many other countries. “Eight years ago, India was identified as the world’s largest importer. But Make-in-India has changed that. Our defense exports have grown eight times in the last eight years,” PM Modi said, adding that the defense sector is driven by the 3-Is: Intent, Innovation and implementation.

“These exports are not limited to just a few companies. Indian companies are now part of the global supply chain. Many countries are now showing interest in Tejas and our companies are supplying defense equipment components to countries like the US, Italy and Israel,” he added. PM Modi said. Every Indian is proud that the Indian-made Brahmos is now considered the most advanced and most dangerous missile in its category, PM Modi said. “The world relies on Indian technology because the Indian military has proven the success of Indian missiles to the world,” PM Modi added.

Crediting the military for the entire revolution in the defense sector, PM Modi said there was no political reason behind it; only the soldiers made this possible. The defense forces have added 101 new items to the list whose imports will be banned, PM Modi said, adding: “I was told today that the number of items will increase to 411 which can only be manufactured locally.”
