Entertainment Focus: Actor Arjun Kapoor said that his surname and his personal life are often misinterpreted

Actor Arjun Kapoor said that his surname and his personal life are often “misinterpreted”. In a new interview, Arjun said that people also misunderstand him because physically he is not “what Indian standards of a man should be”. He added that people should be asking him about his ‘failure’ in his professional life and not how he is ‘off camera’. Earlier this year, Arjun gave his fans a glimpse into his body transformation and weight loss journey.

Sharing the pictures on Instagram, Arjun wrote, “15 months #workinprogress! I felt cute and I’m definitely not going to delete it later because I’m extremely proud of this trip. February 2021 to May 2022 – It’s been tough and I’m just glad I was able to stay on track. I have to admit it has been very hard to stay the course and still is, but I love the state of mind I have been in for the past 15 months. I hope it stays the same. My #MondayMotivation is now me and not others on the gram who love themselves. It’s been a long time since I felt this way!! This is me, this is me (including chest hair).

Speaking to Pinkvilla, Arjun said, “If people want to connect, Arjun Kapoor has played this role very easily, so far. I will win them eventually. It’s alright. I am nothing like what I play in the film, I am not what I was in Ishaqzaad. I am not the person you saw in Gundaya for example. I am an actor and I play different roles. What happens is that I am very often misconstrued for my surname, what happens is that I am even more often misconstrued for my personal life and the fact that physically I am not exactly up to Indian standards of a man, just because that I’m wider than most of my contemporaries or just that I’ve unfortunately put on a bit of weight in the process.”

He added: “I also have the ability to lose it. I don’t see enough people who respect people for accepting the way they look. I think people just have a preconceived idea of what people should be. Yes, in my film I need to look the part. If I say yes to a film to play a part, then it’s my responsibility that I didn’t look the part. So when I do a film where I have to show a certain physicality and I feel like it’s my failure, that’s you have to ask me. It’s nobody’s business how I’m off camera.”

Arjun will be seen in Ek Villain Returns along with Tara Sutaria, John Abraham and Disha Patani. Ek Villain Returns starring Mohit Suri is slated to release on July 29 this year. Arjun also has another upcoming black comedy Kuttey in the pipeline. It is directed by debutant Aasmaan Bhardwaj and stars Tabu, Radhika Madan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Naseeruddin Shah, Kumud Mishra and Shardul Bhardwaj. Arjun will also be seen in Ajay Bahla’s next project Lady Killer starring Bhumi Pednekar.
