Sparsh Shrivastava is celebrating the exciting news that his film Laapataa Ladies has been chosen as India’s official entry to the Oscars. Reflecting on this unexpected achievement, he shares, “Kabhi socha nahin tha ki Oscars tak chale jaenge. It happened all of a sudden.” Sparsh recalls receiving the news from his casting director, Romil, while in a meeting, a moment that left him pleasantly surprised.
Currently in Agra, celebrating with his family, Sparsh describes the emotional atmosphere: “Meri family kafi emotional hai. Mithaiya khayi jaa rahi hai. Unki aankhon mein ansu hai.” His family’s pride has made this moment even more special.
The 25-year-old actor, known for his roles in Ae Mere Watan, Jamtara, and Collar Bomb (2021), sees this recognition as a significant validation of his work: “Following the film’s release, the response I’ve received from the industry and the audience felt like ‘okay you’re on the right track,’ and this only adds to it.”
When asked if the Oscars will influence his choice of roles going forward, Shrivastava is clear: “The thought behind all my roles has been ‘If it sends a message, great, but it should always entertain the viewers’. I believe if the audience is spending money to watch a film or show I’m part of, they must get value for their money and be entertained.
