In the early hours of Saturday, a police operation in Karnal’s Gharounda town led to the arrest of three gangsters associated with the notorious Kaka Rana gang. The gangsters, identified as Sandeep from Hisar, Sandeep from Faridabad, and Ritik from Bhiwani, were involved in multiple extortion-firing cases in the Karnal and Kurukshetra areas, according to Inspector Mohan Lal, CIA-2 unit in-charge from Kurukshetra.
Police received a tip-off around 3 a.m. about the suspects’ presence in the area. The trio, riding a bike, tried to flee when they saw the police but fired shots at the pursuing officers, hitting the windshield and tire of a police vehicle. In the ensuing gunfire exchange, two of the suspects sustained injuries and have been hospitalized.
The gang had reportedly demanded ₹1 crore each from an immigration center owner, a commission agent, and a mobile store owner, threatening violence. They later fired shots at each of the victims’ establishments.
