Drinks firms spooked as India refuses to exempt some plastic straws from ban

India has rejected demands from major international and domestic companies to remove plastic containers from a ban that will take effect on July 1, fueling fears of disruption in the multibillion-dollar industry.Prohibition of items such as $ 790 million packets of juice and dairy products for sale every year is part of India’s campaign to eliminate pollution, used plastic waste, and choking rivers and canals.
