Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Monday said that India got freedom after many struggles and must be self-reliant. Addressing a rally at the RSS headquarters in the Maharashtra city of Nagpur after hoisting the national flag on India’s 76th Independence Day, Bhagwat said the country would convey a message of peace to the world. “Today is a day of pride and determination. The country has gained freedom after many struggles, it needs to rely on itself,” he said.
Bhagwat also said that people should not ask what the country and society is giving them but should think about what they are giving to the country. Some RSS volunteers and pracharaks were present during the event, which was held under tight security. RSS also organized a program on the occasion of Independence Day at Dr. Hedgewar Smarak Samiti in Reshimbagh area where Nagpur Mahanagar Sahsanghchalak Shridhar Gadge will be the chief guest. Swayamsevaks will also conduct a ‘sanchalan journey’ (march round) in various parts of the city at 5 pm.
