Captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are the two biggest batting superstars not only in Indian cricket but also in the whole world. But taking one over the other has never been easy even for die-hard fans. Kohli has his own separate fan base as does Rohit and often the two fan clubs argue with each other. But every time one does well, all of India celebrates. The debate between Rohit and Kohli was endless. Kohli is of course the star of Indian cricket and no other batter comes close to his consistency over the years. But having said that, Rohit has also been in a league of his own and holds batting records that Kohli doesn’t – like a century in T20Is and a double century in ODIs.
Choosing between Rohit and Kohli is always tricky and the current cricketers have mostly responded in moderation, preferring to avoid the bouncer. However, Pakistan’s Imam-Ul-Haq is not among them. Pakistan’s star editorial may not have answered who is better, but Imam mentioned the one with more talent.”I feel that Rohit Sharma has the talent, Virat Kohli has not. I have seen them both play but the way Rohit plays, I feel like he is batting in the game. He has a lot of time. For the first time I realized the importance of timing because I usually bowl at point and I recognize. Virat Kohli batted before me, so did Rohit Sharma, but Rohit got a lot of time from God. He is one player who can change the game. When he is set, he can strike at will,” Imam said on SAMAA News.
Imam has been part of several matches between India and Pakistan where he has seen Kohli and Rohit bat at close quarters. In the 2018 Asia Cup, Imam saw Rohit score a century to help India post 238 in 39 overs to win the match by nine wickets. A year later, Imam was subjected to a similar knock from Rohit, whose 140 in the 2019 World Cup paved the way for India’s next win over Pakistan in the World Cup. Kohli also scored 85 in the same match.
