Assam Police has arrested a person for allegedly murdering a Class 12 girl in Karimganj district. According to the police, the incident took place at Kaliganj Dalfa village in Karimganj district on Friday. The victim has been identified as Monowara Begum.
Partha Protim Das, Karimganj district superintendent of police, said the body was lying outside the house of the accused and the police detained him.
“On receiving information about the incident, we immediately rushed to the spot and found the body lying in front of Jabir Ahmed’s house. According to the eyewitness account, we have arrested the accused Jabir Ahmed. A search operation is underway to find out the machete (dao) used by the accused person,” he said Partha Vs Das.
The cause of the crime has not yet been established. The police registered the case and started an investigation. Further details on the incident are awaited.
