New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended his heartfelt greetings to the nation on the occasion of Hindi Diwas, emphasizing the importance of the language in India’s cultural and linguistic identity.
“Many best wishes to all the countrymen on Hindi Diwas,” PM Modi wrote in a message on X, underscoring the significance of the day, which marks the adoption of Hindi as one of India’s official languages.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also took to social media to express his wishes, highlighting the crucial role Hindi plays alongside other Indian languages. “All Indian languages are our pride and heritage, and without enriching them, we cannot move forward. Official language Hindi has an unbreakable relationship with every Indian language,” Shah posted on X in Hindi.
This year holds special significance as it marks the 75th year since Hindi was recognized as the official language by the Constituent Assembly on September 14, 1946. Shah, in a video message, stressed the importance of unity among all Indian languages and their collective contribution to national progress.
He added, “Whether it is Gujarati, Marathi, or Telugu, every language strengthens Hindi, and Hindi strengthens every language. Over the past 10 years, PM Modi has elevated Hindi’s global stature by addressing international forums in Hindi, further promoting interest in local languages within the country.”
Shah also announced that the government is working on a portal to facilitate translation between Hindi and all the languages of the Eighth Schedule using Artificial Intelligence, making communication smoother across India.
Hindi Diwas is celebrated every year on September 14 to honor the adoption of Hindi as one of India’s official languages, a key moment in the nation’s linguistic and cultural history.
