Environment Focus: On Hariyali Mahotsav the Minister shared his resolve to plant trees continuously over the next 2 months

The Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change has organized a “Hariyali Mahotsav” – Tree Festival, at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi, today celebrating the nation’s enthusiasm for tree planting and forest conservation. The event is organized in partnership with the Provincial Government, NCT Police Stations Delhi Government and Delhi schools by planting investment campaigns in the event and raising awareness of the importance of trees to protect our environment now and for generations to come.

The Minister of Environment, Forestry and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav, called on the nation to make the environment green and emphasized that the protection of rivers, mountains and the environment is a deeply felt Indian concept as recorded in our national anthem ‘Vande Mataram’. We commend the participation of thousands of school children from Delhi, Delhi Police, Delhi Forest Department officials, officials from M / o Environment, Forest and Climate Change, communities / NGOs and institutions from across the country in participating in the “tree. to invest ”in person and those who have joined in a visible way across the country, urging people to pursue a life-friendly environment to save our planet. Planting trees is one of the actions towards Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) as announced by the Prime Minister in CoP 26 in Glasgowand it is imperative that we all come together to advance LiFE as a campaign.

Today’s plan includes planning activities for 75 Nagar Vans, 75 kilometers of roads around 75 police stations, 75 Delhi schools and 75 damaged areas across the country which are clear indications that people are not only accepting but also committed to saving. of nature. He applauded the nation’s efforts to achieve the country’s already 175 GW renewable energy policy and to move towards full renewal of the 500 GW renewable energy policy, as announced by the Hon’ble Prime Minister at CoP26. India is committed to meeting 50 percent of its renewable energy needs by 2030. It also shares the achievements and benefits of the Soil Health Card Scheme presented by the Premier. So far 23 crores health cards have been issued to show our commitment to soil health.

Referring to the Prime Minister’s call for a sustainable environment, Shri Yadav said we not only need to develop, empower, give people a dignified life, but at the same time, we need to be determined to save the world. He said India has 17% of the world’s population but only accounts for 4% of carbon emissions and other developed countries with the same percentage make up about 60% of carbon emissions. India, therefore, has shown the world the essence of prudent use of resources. He urged the children to do activities that would make them work for the green energy.

He emphasized the importance of banning the use of one plastic from 1 July and called on the shared responsibility of the citizens of the country to its full use and informed of directed efforts to create alternative solutions for a sustainable and environmentally friendly future. India is home to a rich variety of biodiversity and despite the various anthropogenic challenges it faces, the country thrives with 52 tiger reserves and 31 elephant reserves as well as other wildlife abounds and rich forests.

Shri Bhupender Yadav urged students and youth to work towards fulfilling the Prime Minister’s decision by planting trees, hygiene, working in the field of renewable energy, keeping the earth green and developing a scientific attitude to save the earth and its function. in their future activities.The Secretary, Smt. Leena Nandan expressed that everyone has a relationship with nature and that today’s program not only marks the planting of trees but also symbolizes the 75th anniversary of Freedom as the ‘Azadi of Amrit Mahotsav’. He urged the children not only to be willing to plant trees but also to spread the message to everyone they meet.

Police Commissioner, Shri Rakesh Asthana; Director General of Forestry & Special Secretary, Shri Chandra Prakash Goyal; PCCF NCT Delhi, Shri C.D. Singh and the Director-General of Forestry, Dr. S. P. Yadavand and other senior MoEF & CC officials also participated in the event. Children from various Delhi schools and other participants also participated in the celebration. The event kicked off with Nukkad Natak from the children of ASN Senior Secondary School, Delhi delivering important messages on tree planting and plastic installation from our lives and conveyed the message of the promise of saving trees and protecting our planet. The program culminated in a green Grammy-winning concert by Indian music composer Ricky Kej. As music plays an important way of raising awareness especially for young people who are obsessed with young people, these green concerts are organized to highlight the important role that plants, animals and rivers play in conservation and biodiversity.
