key developments brought by the Guidelines

The Government of India, under the auspices of the Prime Minister, has been taking concrete steps to promote trade and commerce in the country, with a focus on data and technology development. The release of the new Geospatial data guidelines on February 15, 2021, by DST, was part of this vision and introduced the much-needed changes to liberate the Geospatial industry.

One of the key developments brought by the Guidelines was a change in the previous authorization process, security authorization, licenses and other restrictions on collection, production, preparation, distribution, storage, publication, review and / or digitization of Geospatial data and maps. within the Indian subcontinent through a self-certification system to adhere to the provisions of the Geospatial Guidelines by individuals, companies, organizations, and Government agencies. The idea for change was received by the Department of Science and Technology with the launch of the Certification Certificate website today.

As per the guidelines, there will be no need for prior authorization, security clearance, license or any other restrictions on the collection, production, processing, distribution, storage, publishing, review and / or digitization of Geospatial data and maps within India. Individuals, companies, organizations, and Government agencies, will be free to process Geospatial Data obtained, build applications and develop solutions related to such data and use such data products, applications, solutions, etc. by selling, distributing, sharing. , exchanging, distributing, publishing, withdrawing and destroying. Self-certification will be used to transfer adherence to these guidelines.

Announcements in the Geospatial Data Guidelines

Using the Portal will actually reduce the time spent obtaining the most advanced Geospatial companies, researchers, academics, and founders of Geospatial-related activities. The launch of the Portal is in line with the ideas for change and announcements in the Geospatial Data Guidelines issued by DST on February 15, 2021. The portal has been developed in collaboration with the NIC.

Drs. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent) Science and Technology; Minister of State (Independent Payment) Earth Science; The MoS PMO, Employees, Public Complaints, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, commended the launch of the Certification Certification site. He said the Portal would improve the process of building Geospatial Data, Maps, products, solutions and services through the authentication government. Previously, this process would take about a year for prior approval and approval before starting work on the project. This has led to a great loss of time, resources, and business and development opportunities. The new Authentication portfolio helps all organizations participating in Geospatial data-related activities to easily verify within a few minutes. So there is more freedom and hope in the industry.

Dr Srivari Chandrasekhar DST Secretary thanked the role of the Self Certification Portal and said it would speed up Geospatial-related activities. The independent Geospatial Government will play a key role in modernizing agriculture, manufacturing, construction, infrastructure, resources, disaster management, urban development and governance. Individual companies, organizations, and government agencies are free to process Geospatial data obtained, build applications and develop solutions using such data and data products by marketing, distribution, sharing, exchange, distribution, and publishing without waiting for approval and authorization.
