Prime Minister’s Visit to Italy for G7 Summit Marks New Chapter in India-Italy Partnership

At the invitation of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, I went to the Apulia region of Italy to participate in the G7 participation summit on June 14, 2024.

I am happy that my first visit to Italy for the third consecutive term is for the G-7 summit. I remember very well my visit to Italy for the G20 summit in 2021. Prime Minister Maloney’s two visits to India last year contributed significantly to the development and depth of our bilateral agenda. We are committed to strengthening the India-Italy strategic partnership and enhancing cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and Mediterranean regions.

Discussions in outreach sessions will focus on artificial intelligence, energy, Africa, and the Mediterranean. This will be an opportunity to bring greater synergy between the outcome of the G20 Summit under India’s presidency and the outcome of the upcoming G7 Summit and discuss issues of importance to the Global South.

I also look forward to meeting other leaders present at the summit.
