EPFO Sees 11.67% Growth in Payroll Youth and Women Drive Surge

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) added 17.89 lakh net members in January 2025, reflecting an 11.67% year-on-year rise and signaling strong employment growth. The data highlights a surge in young workforce participation, with the 18-25 age group accounting for 57.07% of new subscribers, marking a 3.07% increase from last year.

Women’s workforce participation also saw a significant boost, with female subscriber additions rising by 13.48%, indicating a more inclusive job market. Maharashtra led in state-wise payroll contributions, accounting for 22.77% of net additions. Sectoral trends show growth in expert services, financing, and transport, underscoring a dynamic labor market and a recovering economy.
