Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that the Congress never prioritized the development of Himachal Pradesh but the BJP fulfilled all the promises it made to the people of the hill state. He said this during a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rally ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in the hill state.
“Making false promises and giving false assurances has been an old trick of the Congress. He never gave priority to the development of Himachal. The BJP has fulfilled its promises to the people,” Modi said while addressing voters in Mandi. Accusing the Congress of corruption, the Prime Minister said, “During its regime, the Congress always took kickbacks for defense deals. It committed frauds in the order of thousands of crores.”
“We gave vaccines for free. If there was a Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, then the vaccines would be the last to reach Himachal Pradesh. You voted (publicly) for the right button and that’s why there has been so much development,” he added. He said the Himachal elections are “very special” this time as each vote will decide the path of development for the next 25 years. “People know that BJP stands for stability, priority for development. The people of Himachal have decided to reconstitute the BJP government,” he added.
He further condoled the death of the first voter of Independent India who died at the age of 105 on Saturday morning. “On November 2, he voted for this election by postal ballot. He fulfilled his duty before his death, that should motivate every citizen,” he said. Shyam Saran Negi, who died at his home in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur, voted by postal ballot on November 2. Elections in Himachal Pradesh will be held on November 12 and the counting of votes will begin on December 8.
