Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday that he was summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation or CBI to its headquarters on Sunday. He also claimed that he has always cooperated and will continue to cooperate in the investigation of the consumer policy case.
“The CBI called again yesterday. They used CBI, ED power of attorney against me, raided my house, searched the bank locker but nothing was found against me. I arranged a good education for the children of Delhi. They want to stop them. I have always cooperated with the investigation and will continue to do so,” Sisodia tweeted in Hindi.
The CBI filed the chargesheet about three months ago in the case. Sisodia, who was summoned for questioning on Sunday, is not named as an accused in the charge sheet.
Arrested businessmen Vijay Nair and Abhishek Boinpally were among the seven accused named in the charge sheet.
It is alleged that the Delhi government’s policy of granting licenses to liquor vendors favored certain merchants who allegedly paid bribes for it, an allegation strongly refuted by the AAP. “Irregularities were further alleged to have been committed, including adjustments in excise duty policy, giving undue benefits to licensees, waiver/reduction of license fee, extension of L-1 license without approval, etc.
“It has also been alleged that the illegal profits of these acts were diverted to the concerned public servants by the private parties by making false entries in their books of account,” a CBI spokesperson said.
