The CBI has catched Betrue Ecom Solutions Pvt Ltd and its directors for allegedly engaging in online sports betting and gambling with the connivance of Philippine online web platform Dafasports, officials said on Monday. The central probe agency said the company’s accounts recorded large transactions withdrawals of Rs 23.33 crore and deposits of Rs 23.37 crore from March 2, 2019 to May 31, 2019, during which the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament was also underway they said.
The agency has conducted a preliminary investigation against the New Delhi-based Karol Bagh company and its directors Yogesh Kumar and Rakesh Prasad Gupta, which revealed their alleged links with Dafasports and Dafabet, they said. The CBI investigation revealed that the company was linked to dafabet.com and was involved in online betting and gambling under the guise of online footwear trading, the company said in its documents submitted to the Registrar of Companies and the bank.
“However, they transferred a specific amount to the account of www.dafabet.com, but eventually the payments were credited to the account of Betrue Ecom Solutions Private Limited, indicating that the accused company has links with dafabet,” the preliminary notice said. query mentioned in the FIR said.
The depositors statement proved that they are not connected to any company called Betrue Ecom Solution Private Limited. “There were several transactions described as Dafabet, Dafa Sports, Dafabetupd etc. and several transactions based on UPI. People from many Indian states are using Dafabet website for online betting and gambling and as far as Betrue Ecom Solutions Private Limited is concerned, the maximum number of depositors/bettors were from Andhra Pradesh,” he said.
The CBI alleged that www.dafabet.com is an online sports betting and gambling site operated from Makati, Philippines and Dafa Sports is an online sports betting arm of Dafabet. “The website offers online betting and gambling and also accepts payments in Indian rupees,” he said.
