Britain’s Prince Harry and his wife Meghan have received invitations to the coronation of their father, King Charles, but are yet to publicly confirm whether they will attend, Harry’s spokesman said on Sunday.
Preparations for the May event have been overshadowed by the couple’s damning revelations about the king, Harry’s older brother Prince William and other members of the royal family in his recent memoir, a Netflix documentary and a series of television interviews.
His recent high-profile and scathing criticism of his family has led to speculation whether Harry, who will step down from royal duties in 2020, will be invited to the coronation and, if so, whether he will attend.
Harry’s spokesman says “I can confirm that the Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Majesty’s Office regarding the coronation, we will not be making an immediate decision as to whether the Duke and Duchess will attend at this time”.
