A 17 year old girl was allegedly raped by two persons in Bihar’s East Champaran district, police said on Sunday. The matter came to light after the girl’s family approached the Sangrampur police station on Sunday morning. According to police, the incident took place in a village in East Champaran when the girl went to a neighbor’s house to watch television on December 1.
“On Monday, we will record her statement before the judge. A medical examination has been conducted,” said Ranjan Kumar, sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), Areraj division. The girl’s mother alleged that there was a delay in registering the case. “A raid is underway to arrest the accused,” the SDPO said.
Speaking to reporters, the girl’s mother said her daughter remained unconscious for about 12 hours after the alleged incident. “Due to the financial crisis, it was still difficult to secure proper medical care for her daughter,” she said. On Sunday, two people were booked under sections 376 (rape), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 504 (intentional insult), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO). , police said. No arrests have yet been made in this connection, the police officer said.
