The White House said “A small number of classified documents from the previous Obama-Biden administration were found at President Joe Biden’s think tank here”.
Richard Sauber, a special adviser to the president said “The White House is working with the National Archives and the Department of Justice to discover what appear to be Obama-Biden administration records, including a small number of classified documents”.
Sauber said the documents were discovered when the president’s personal lawyers were packing files stored in a locked cabinet in preparation for clearing out office space at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, DC.
The president used the space regularly from mid-2017 until the start of the 2020 campaign. On the day of the discovery, Nov. 2, 2022, the White House counsel’s office notified the National Archives, the special counsel said.
Sauber said “The archives received the materials the following morning, the disclosure of these documents was made by the President’s lawyers. The documents were not the subject of any previous request or investigation by the archives. Since that discovery, the president’s personal lawyers have worked with the archives and the Department of Justice in a process to ensure that all Obama-Biden administration records are properly held by the archives”.
Donald Trump Jr, son of former President Donald Trump, tweeted “Biden’s political opponents, particularly the opposition Republican Party, were quick to pounce on the president. They told us for months that this was a treasonable reason for impeachment ; he deserves the death penalty yet i feel like nothing will happen!?”
Senator Marsha Blackburn said in a tweet “It has been revealed that classified documents were found in Joe Biden’s private office. Why were they there, why was the DOJ not looking for these documents, and who had access to them?”
Republican Congressman Troy Nehls made the announcement on Twitter “Classified documents from Vice President Joe Biden found in his private office.” When will the FBI raid his home?”.
