Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was in Indonesia on Monday to meet with its President Joko Widodo and the coastal relations between the two neighbors, on his first co-operation trip since his election last month.
Albanians are expected to negotiate with Jokowi on trade, investment, climate change and security, as the Indonesian leader is best known, and will be accompanied by an Australian business team. in the May 21 election, it focuses heavily on relations with Southeast Asia and climate change, which is an important issue for its Pacific neighbors, as it roams its ties with China’s strongest.
“I look forward to productive discussions about our priorities on climate and energy, investment, and regional security,” Albanese tweeted. The Australian delegation includes Trade Minister Don Farrell and Foreign Minister Penny Wong.Wong, who once said Indonesia had not received the attention it deserved under Prime Minister Scott Morrison, met his Indonesian counterpart RetnoMarsudi on Sunday.
Albanese was also scheduled to meet with Lim Jock Hoi, Jakarta-based secretary-general of the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) before heading to Makassar in eastern Indonesia.Albanese expressed a desire to strengthen relations with ASEAN, during a geopolitical dispute in the Pacific and on Sunday said his team had emphasized Indonesia’s importance to Australia.”We have committed business leaders from Australia here because they want to deepen economic relations between Australia and Indonesia,” he told reporters.
