Self-developed laser-guided anti-tank missiles (ATGMs) were successfully test-fired from the Arjun main battle tank (MBT) by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and the Indian Army at KK Ranges with the support of the Armored Corps Center & School (ACC&S) Ahmednagar, Maharashtra on the 4th. August 2022. The missiles accurately hit and successfully destroyed targets at two different distances. Telemetry systems recorded satisfactory flight performance of the missiles.
The all-original laser-guided ATGM uses a tandem high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) warhead to defeat armored vehicles protected by Explosive Reactive Armor (ERA). The ATGM has been developed with a multi-platform firing capability and is currently undergoing technical trials with the 120mm MBT Arjun rifle.RakshaMantri Shri Rajnath Singh praised DRDO and Indian Army for successful implementation of laser guided ATGMs. Secretary, Ministry of Defense for Research and Development and Chairman DRDO Dr. G.
