NASA & ESA Astronauts Return to Earth Safely

NASA’s SpaceX Crew-3 astronauts aboard the Dragon Endurance spacecraft dispersed safely on Friday in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Florida, completing a third long-distance mission for the International Space Station’s commercial crew. The international team of four spent 177 days traveling.

NASA astronauts Kayla Barron, Raja Chari, and Tom Marshburn, as well as ESA (European Space Agency) star Matthias Maurer returned to Earth with parachute aids at 12:43 a.m. EDT. Teams aboard the SpaceX rescue fleet found a spacecraft and spacecraft. After returning to shore, astronauts will fly back to Johnson’s NASA space station in Houston.

“NASA’s partnership with SpaceX also empowered us to bring the team safely into space and in space, creating a solid science that will help our astronauts travel farther into space than ever before. This project is one example of the golden age of flying in space”said NASA Director Bill Nelson. “Kayla, Raja, Tom, and Matthias, thank you for your service and welcome home!”

Crew-3 on mission

The Crew-3 mission unveiled on November 10 with a Falcon 9 rocket from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. About 24 hours after the hike, Nov. 11, Endurance stops at the port of the Harmony module space station. The astronauts retreated to the same port at 1:05 a.m. May 5, to begin the journey home.

Barron, Chari, Marshburn, and Maurer traveled 75,060,792 miles during their mission, spent 175 days boarding a space station, and completed 2,832 trips around the Earth. Marshburn entered the space 339 days with his three planes. The Crew-3 mission was the first space shuttle of Barron, Chari, and Maurer.

Throughout their mission, Crew-3 astronauts have contributed to a wide range of scientific and repair projects and technical exhibitions. In addition, they conducted three space travel missions to undertake station maintenance and upgrades outside the space station. This brought the total number of Marshburn space missions to five, with Chari and Barron each finishing two, and one Maurer.

How fibers grow in microgravity: investigation

Crew-3 was built on previous work investigating how fibers grow in microgravity, using hydroponic and aeroponic techniques to grow plants without soil or other growing material, and photographing their retina as part of an investigation that could automatically detect atmospheric visual cues future, and has made demonstrations of technology that provides measurements of biological indicators related to disease and infection, among many other scientific studies. Astronauts have taken hundreds of Earth images as part of the Crew Earth Observation investigation, another long-running space mission, which helps track natural disasters and changes on our home planet.

Endurance will return to Florida for testing and evaluation at SpaceX’s Dragon Lair, where teams will test the data and performance of the spacecraft throughout the aircraft.

The Crew-3 Aircraft is part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program and its return to Earth following the launch of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-4, which arrived at the station on April 27, embarking on another scientific journey. The goal of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program is safe, reliable, and affordable travel to and from the International Space Station. This has already provided more research time and increased access to the human microgravity testbed for testing, which includes helping NASA prepare human tests for the Moon and Mars.
