Army troops foiled an infiltration bid by terrorists along the Line of Control in the forward area of Jammu district, officials said on Wednesday. A group of terrorists tried to infiltrate into Indian territory in Pallanwala sector on Tuesday evening. The alert soldiers fired at them and forced them to retreat, they said. This is the third failed terrorist infiltration attempt in the last 72 hours along the entry point in the Jammu region.
On August 21, alert troops deployed in Jhangar Rajouri’s Naushera sector detected the movement of two to three terrorists on the Indian side of the ceasefire and challenged them, officials said. The terrorist tried to escape but was wounded in the firing by soldiers and captured alive. According to them, the other two terrorists who were hiding behind him managed to escape.In a second infiltration bid on the night of 22-23 August, a group of two to three terrorists attempted to infiltrate Lam sector in Naushera. As they moved forward into the minefields, a number of mines were activated and two terrorists were killed on the spot, officials said.
