APEDA created an information strategy  to achieve the export target of USD 23.56 billion

APEDA, the agricultural export promotion body of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has created an information strategy for agricultural export promotion to achieve the export target of USD 23.56 billion for the financial year 2022-23. As part of the plan, 300 export promotion events will be organized this year. With the sanitary and phytosanitary measures used as a technical barrier to trade by countries posing a major challenge in the export of food products, especially in developed countries, APEDA plans to raise awareness among stakeholders about food exports by highlighting its impact on human life. through various online platforms, including social media platforms.

As per the proposed outreach strategy, it is planned to create strong and regular engagement with exporters, farmers, agribusinesses, food processors, logistics providers, foreign exchange management companies etc. through various mainstream publications and electronic channels as well as prominent social media platforms. media by highlighting the list of potential products have rich export potential.

The list of potential markets will also be displayed on various social media platforms. In addition, the country-specific and product-specific requirements of India’s export potential products would be particularly highlighted on the APEDA exporter portal. A quick update on the requirements of the importing countries can also be instantly disseminated among the stakeholders and the product benefits of India’s exports to its preferential partner countries would also be highlighted to grab more opportunities in the partner countries.

To attract more exporters, APEDA export procedures would be circulated on various platforms especially electronic media and one pager message about its export procedure would be spread at local and village level along with its benefits. In line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s clarion call to create AtmaNirbhar Bharat, we focus on nurturing potential aspiring Agripreneurs through practical and technical training and motivate them to choose agricultural exports as an attractive career.

The apex agro-export body of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry also proposes to organize a scheme for Agripreneurs to harvest export opportunities from diversified agro-climatic zones in India. Stakeholders in the agricultural supply chain, such as farmers, students, officials, etc., would be oriented to agricultural export practices, guidelines, fiscal and financial incentives in the agricultural supply chain from government, sanitary and phytosanitary issues in the supply chain, e.g. residues, maximum residue limits, traceability, etc.

As India has good potential for export of GI products due to its therapeutic and health values, orientation programs have been planned to create awareness among stakeholders about GI products in the North Eastern Region (NER). There are more than 140 agricultural products registered with GIs in India and out of these 123 agricultural products are APEDA scheduled products. Keeping India’s biodiversity in mind, a number of national and international exhibitions and workshops have been planned to promote the export of GI products worldwide by making universities, organizations, NGOs, etc. national and international knowledge partners. .

According to the information strategy, it was proposed to create an association of GI register owners to better coordinate and bridge the link between GI stakeholders and the government. This step is aimed at establishing the integrity and authenticity of GI products, as there is an organization for registering GI products, but no agency to verify their authenticity.

The proposed programs to be organized under the information strategy would focus on challenges in the export-oriented agricultural supply chain in India, automation and mechanization of the agricultural supply chain, effective implementation of new technologies in agriculture and food processing, agricultural export policy, one district and single product, pre-harvest and post-harvest procedures at SPS and Global GAP level, logistics and infrastructure requirements for integrated cold chain management and measures for safe residual zones, especially pesticide and toxin residues

It was suggested to create a video and info graphic about the success stories of exporters and promote them regularly on social media platforms. The Agri-Export Promotion Authority has also suggested publishing motivational stories of successful farmers, start-ups, exporters etc. in various print and social media.
