The Indian Navy’s P8I long-range maritime patrol aircraft participated in the multinational naval exercise Kakadu 2022 hosted by the Royal Australian Navy in Darwin from 12-25 September 22, along with INS Satpura. 34 aircraft from more than 20 countries took part in the exercise.
The P8I’s first participation provided the aircrew with greater exposure and increased understanding of the various nuances of anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare operations in a complex, multi-threat scenario. The seamless operations conducted by the P8I in line with the theme of the exercise ‘Partnership, Leadership, Friendship’ along with the USN and RAAF P8s allowed for refinement of joint SOPs and improved interoperability and reaffirmed the Indian Navy’s commitment to the Indo-Pacific.
