Rahul Dravid the legendary batsman has also shown a witty and humorous side to his personality

Rahul Dravid may come across as a serious person, but ever since he took over the pressers as the head coach of the Indian team, the legendary batsman has also shown a witty and humorous side to his personality that has often left the media room bursting with laughter. On Saturday, on the eve of the match between India and Pakistan in the Super 4 stage of the ongoing Asia Cup 2022, Dravid was asked to compare the bowling line-ups of the two teams and his answer was hilarious.

Pakistan’s bowlers managed to restrict Hong Kong to just 38 on Friday to register their biggest T20I win and book a place in the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup. On the other hand, the Indian bowlers had picked five wickets for 152 runs against the same side on their way to the qualifiers the previous day.

On that aspect, the reporter asked about the bowling line-ups of the two teams ahead of their Super 4 tie in Dubai on Sunday. Dravid hailed Pakistan’s attack but conceded that his team too managed to put up a “pretty good” show in the Asia Cup before making the cheery statement. “Theek he, unke bowlers ne bhi aachi bowling ki thi. They are a very good bowling side. But we also bowled well to restrict them to 147. No matter what score you restrict the opposition to, the numbers may vary but at the end of the day, bowling analysis is important.

You are judged by the results you produce. And the bowling analysis of our fast bowlers was also quite good. I certainly respect their (Pakistan) bowling but I’m sure we also have a very good bowling attack that delivers results,” he said. “Maybe it’s not like that…I wanted to use the word but I can’t use the word. It comes from my mind but I can’t use it here,” he added as the whole room erupted in laughter.

Another journalist, trying to help Dravid, asked if the word was “exuberant”. The former India batsman was quick to reply, “Not exuberant. It’s a four letter bit and starts with an “s”. Dravid also informed about Indian pacer Avesh Khan who is unwell and unlikely to feature in Sunday’s game. Avesh is feeling a bit unwell, he was just under the weather, he has a bit of a fever, the doctors are handling the situation, he is not in training today, I hope it is not too serious and he should be fine for tomorrow’s game (against PAK), if not then later part of the tournament,” said Dravid.
