India leads the world in producing milk, the profit is higher than wheat and rice: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said India produces milk worth Rs 8.5 lakh crore a year, which is more than the benefits of wheat and rice, and smallholder farmers are the main beneficiaries in the dairy sector.

“Today, India is the world’s largest producer of milk. While farmers’ livelihoods depend on milk, India produces milk worth Rs 8.5 lakh crore a year, something that many people, including big economists, ignore,” the premier said at a regional conference in Diodar of Banaskantha after the opening of a new dairy building and the Banas Dairy potato processing plant.

“The established urban economic system is an example of this. Contrary to this, even the replacement of wheat and rice is not worth Rs 8.5 lakh crore. And smallholder farmers are the biggest beneficiaries of the dairy sector,” he said. the milk complex and potato processing plant of Banas Dairy is aimed at empowering local farmers and boosting the rural economy in the region.The Prime Minister also donated to the nation Banas Community Radio Station as well as expanded production facilities for cheese and whey powder products in Palanpur, as well as a compost and biogas plant established in Dama.
