PM Narendra Modi Urges Urgent Action on India-China Border Situation in Newsweek Interview

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the urgent need to address the India-China border situation in an interview with US-based Newsweek magazine. He stressed the importance of stable relations between the two countries, stating that resolving the prolonged border tensions is crucial to normalize bilateral interactions.

PM Modi highlighted the significance of the relationship between India and China, asserting that stable and peaceful relations are not only important for the two nations but also for the entire region and the world. He expressed hope that positive engagement at diplomatic and military levels would lead to restoring and sustaining peace and tranquility along the borders.

The Prime Minister’s remarks come in the context of the 2020 clashes between Indian and Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley, which resulted in casualties on both sides and led to a significant deterioration in India-China relations. The incident prompted high-level diplomatic and military talks to de-escalate tensions.

Regarding India-Pakistan relations, PM Modi reiterated India’s commitment to promoting peace, security, and prosperity in the region free from terrorism and violence. While congratulating Pakistan’s Prime Minister on assuming office, he refrained from commenting on the internal matters of the neighboring country, including the imprisonment of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

PM Modi’s interview underscores India’s stance on seeking diplomatic solutions to complex geopolitical challenges and its emphasis on constructive engagement and dialogue to address bilateral and regional issues.
