Delhi New CM Seat BJP Eyes Two Deputy CMs to Showcase ‘Mini India’

As the BJP prepares to form its government in Delhi, the party is considering appointing two deputy chief ministers to represent the capital’s diverse communities. Party leaders believe this move will reflect Delhi as a “mini India” and help accommodate MLAs from various caste, community, and regional backgrounds.

The BJP’s Legislature Party is expected to meet on Sunday with 48 newly elected MLAs to finalize the Chief Minister and Cabinet lineup. Senior leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, have been part of ongoing discussions about government formation.

Among the top contenders for the CM position are Parvesh Verma, who defeated AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency, East Delhi MP Harsh Malhotra, North East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari, and New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj.

Potential Cabinet members include Kailash Gangwal (Madipur), Ravinder Indraj Singh (Bawana), and Raj Kumar Chauhan (Mangol Puri), representing SC constituencies. Rekha Gupta (Shalimar Bagh), Vijender Gupta (Rohini), and Tilak Ram Gupta (Tri Nagar) are among those likely to be chosen from the Baniya community.

The BJP’s leadership is also reviewing its performance in the recent elections, analyzing its loss in 22 constituencies and planning adjustments to its Delhi ranks. A final decision on the Cabinet composition, likely reflecting representation from each of Delhi’s seven Lok Sabha constituencies, is expected soon.
