Union Home Minister Amit Shah thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the Lok Sabha passed the Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill, 2024 on Wednesday.
In a post on X, Shah called the bill a “landmark move,” adding that it aligns with Modi’s vision of a disaster-resilient India. He highlighted that the bill prioritizes proactive measures to prevent disasters and empowers response forces to better protect citizens.
“The provisions of this law will act as a fresh impetus to achieve zero casualties during disasters and ensure the safety of every citizen,” Shah said.
The bill aims to enhance disaster preparedness and strengthen India’s response mechanisms to reduce risks and save lives.
